The Cause

The Dunedin Boat Club was established in 1929 to promote sailing activities in its home town.  Conceived from the Optimist's "Orange Crate Derby" youth project, the Optimist Pram was designed and built by Clark Mills in Dunedin in 1947, with the first fleet sailing a year later.  The pram design led to the International Optimist Dinghy, or IOD, which the Dunedin Youth Sailing Association (DYSA) uses today.

Join us in supporting the Dunedin Youth Sailing Association, an organization that instills in kids the values that Dunedin grew up on:  responsibility, team-building, sportsmanship and confidence.  The Dunedin Youth Sailing Association's scholarship program is committed to its motto "No Child Left on Shore".

Help us make the lives of children in Tampa Bay just a little bit better…one sail at a time.  Let us prominently put your company name in front of an ever-growing number of participants and spectators.  Join us in the fun of this win-win weekend on the water.

What Parents Say….

  • "My boys have taken with them a sense of accomplishment, a knowledge of sailing, a commitment to teamwork and the pride that sailing their own pram brings.  Our sincere gratitude goes out to the Dunedin Boat Club and Dunedin Youth Sailing Association Scholarship Program.  This has been an empowering experience my sons will never forget!"
  • "The program was very well organized with quality teaching.  It helped build confidence and our son had lots of fun."
  • "My son struggled with self esteem.  He didn't excel in standard team sports at school.  We are a boating family, so when he joined DYSA, he finally found his place to excel.  It's improved his self confidence, not just on the water, but in life.  We love DYSA!"
  • "DYSA has improved our children's independence and ability to work as part of a team.  DYSA provides quality instruction in a fun environment!"
